My Left Bank: Pete Carr

13/04/2023 | Pete Carr

Wirral’s great wall means many things to many people. We asked photographer Pete Carr to tell us what it means to them.

“I’ve lived in New Brighton for over 10 years but it wasn’t until during lockdown that I truly came to appreciate the value of the promenade.

“I bought a bike and fell in love with cycling all over again. I run, walk, cycle, even longboard along the prom.

“From one end I can see the hills of Beeston in Cheshire, and from the other the snow capped mountains of Snowdonia.

“I’ve seen seals and porpoises in the river, comets and the aurora overhead, and swam with moon jellyfish in the lake.

“This is my quiet, safe space where I disconnect from the world and wander with my camera.

“On a fun day, when it’s raining and the wind is howling, it’s all mine.”
